چکیده

Abstract Contamination with Cd, Cu and Pb is a major environmental issue. Cations of those metals may adsorb on negatively charged surfaces polymeric silicic acid (pSi), altering their fate. Aiming to elucidate the underlying mechanisms extent adsorption, we conducted batch adsorption experiments at pH 4 6 concentrations that excluded precipitation solid phases. Zeta-potential measurements were monitor surface charge changes. In addition, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) was used derive thermodynamic parameters interaction between pSi. Surprisingly, neither did batch-adsorption reveal any metal pSi after 24 h reaction time, nor ITC show evidence for chemical metals, as no heat released or absorbed during experiments. However, zeta-potential indicated weak electrostatic interactions silanol groups metals. These be initial step incorporation into matrix polymerizing acid, which spectroscopically proven in long-term

Accumulation of heavy metals from agricultural soils contaminated by low levels heavy metals has important implications in the understanding of heavy metal contamination in the food chain. Through field experiments (1994-1996), the influence of thermal regime under different treatments on the accumulation of zinc, cadmium, copper, and lead in Chinese cabbage [Brassica pekinensis (Lour) Rupr. cv...

Competitive Adsorption of Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd from Aqueous Solution Onto Fly Ash-Based Linde F(K) Zeolite

The reaction of fly ash with a KOH solution was used to synthesize Linde F(K) zeolite, following which Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the crystalline material. The competitive adsorption of Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd onto this zeolite was subsequently studied in quaternary solution systems. The results show that the metal removal rates gradually increase with incr...

Sources of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn in biowaste.

Biowaste, the separately collected organic fraction of municipal solid waste, can be reused for soil conditioning after composting. In this way, environmentally harmful waste management strategies, such as landfilling or incineration, can be reduced. However, frequent application of composts to soil systems may lead to the accumulation of heavy metals in soils, and therefore legal criteria were...
